KinderShape® & KidShape®

 

KinderShape® & KidShape®

  • Family-based pediatric weight management programs for families with overweight children.
  • Designed to promote healthy lifestyles including healthy eating, increased physical activity and positive self-esteem.
  • KinderShape targets children ages 3 – 5
  • KidShape targets children ages 6 – 14


About the Classes

  • KinderShape classes are 6-weeks long
  • KidShape classes are 8-weeks long
  • All classes taught by a team of professional and led by a Registered Dietitian.
  • Classes are held once a week and are two hours long
  • Available in English and Spanish
  • A parent/guardian is required to attend with each enrolled child; however, all family members are encouraged to attend.

  • Period 1: Nutrition for families
    • Eating healthy & having fun as a family
  • Period 2: Nutrition for adults
      • More healthy eating
    • Active play for students
      • Being active is fun & easy
  • Period 3: Healthy living for adults
      • Making it all work at home
    • Cooking demonstration and arts & crafts for students
      • Making healthy snacks and arts & crafts with a healthy twist.
  • Period 4: Family active play and healthy snacks
    • Let’s have fun & enjoy healthy snacks!

How to Enroll

  • Call 1-800-639-1115
  • Physicians may refer their patients by completing a KinderShape/KidShape referral form and faxing it to the Riverside County Nutrition Services branch at 951-358-5472.
  • Interested families may enroll by calling 1-800-639-1115.

Insurance/Payment

  • There is a fee for the classes; however, some insurance plans do cover the program.
  • Scholarships and financial aid options are available for low-income families without health insurance.
