Loving Support

The Loving Support Breastfeeding program supports the American Academy of Pediatrics recommendation that mothers exclusively breastfeed their babies without supplements for the first six months and to continue breastfeeding for a minimum of one year.

About our Program:

  • The Loving Support Breastfeeding Program provides support, encouragement and assistance to all new mothers in order to make breastfeeding successful.
  • Open to all Riverside County residents
  • Toll-free, bilingual helpline available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide support and assistance. Staffed by certified lactation educators and lactation consultants.

Parent Services

  • Find a Provider
    • Find a physician or medical care provider that has met the criteria to be determined Breastfeeding Friendly
  • Prenatal education
    • Parents-to-be are mailed a package of 4 breastfeeding pamphlets along with an introductory letter about the Loving Support Program
  • Individual help
    • In-person breastfeeding support and help is available at several walk-in clinics or in their own doctor’s office.
  • Inspirational cards
    • Mothers are sent inspirational cards to congratulate, encourage and honor them during their babies’ first year (3 week, 3, 6, 9 & 12 months)
  • Newsletter
    • A quarterly newsletter providing helpful hints and up-to-date information and resources to support the mother and her family to continue breastfeeding.
  • Breast pump program
    • Breastfeeding women who are working or separated from their babies are eligible to check out breast pumps free of charge.

Professional Services

  • Education Representatives
    • Breastfeeding representatives visit physician offices (prenatal and pediatric care providers) and hospital (14) countywide on a monthly basis. The representatives provide educational materials, displays, take-away cards and training to ensure providers have the resources necessary to help their patients choose and continue to breastfeed their babies.

  • Newsletter
    • A quarterly newsletter providing up-to-date education and resource information for the entire medical staff.
  • Community Liaison
    • Awareness of the importance of breastfeeding and mothers’ rights to do so through education of the community at large.
